I headed up to the Edmonton Garrison for a Miata vs Z-car fun-run a couple weekends ago with my Dad, brother, MX6 and the 240z.

It was a blast!!!

It was a great day, and I think I am addicted to autocross.

My Times for the day were ~

1:48
1:42
1:39
1:38
1:37

240z's best time was 1:29
most miatas were in the 20's

I learned a great deal about driving that day, and I can't wait to hit the track again soon.

I gotta get rid of the winter tires though, I need new tires!!

Cheers,
Kevin

Congrats on your first outing. Its a surprising amount of fun and an eye opener as well isnt it? ping "Ryan" on this forum. He used to own one of the last nationally competitive (circa the late 90s) GS 2nd gen MX6s and could give you some pointers on some simple tips to get your car into competitive shape.

Its surprising to most that you really dont need to throw a ton of money/parts at a car to get it to handle extremely well. Some well chosen parts and youll have not only a fun car to drive on the streets, but also a car thats extremely capable in autocross.

After that....youll need to work on the driver ;)

Your car looks like the one parked outside my house!! Is that a stock suspension? That corner picture looks awesome, got any more of the 6 in action?
nice looks like fun, lucky there didnt seem too many people.

agreed!

swaybar, camber bolts + tyres and the car will handle very nicely indeed.

and yup, driver will need work. But that will come byself in time.
if the miata's were in the 20's you should be able to get within a few seconds of them. I'm about 1sec behind them where I race (51sec to them, 52 for me)
Mind you its taken a year and something like 50-60 runs to get down to them!!

you've got the bug now. Good luck getting out of it =p
