I was seriously thinking of getting the same Protege rims, They look betifual!
My MX-6 GT is the excat same black colour as your with the excat same side molding, so after seeing your car with those rims on it Im not thinking about it anymore...I don't have to...I now know I want them!!!
What Protege did they come off of? (the protege5?) what year, and how much did you pay? were they new or used?

Im just trying to get an idea of where im going to get them, I was thinking of going to the sealership for them but it would probley cost me $100 each. Mabey I'll just wait for a new protege5 to crash and get towed to the Junkies where I can rob the rims off of it.

No, dont buy them new, you will pay like a grand for the set. Keep checking ebay and the protege messageboards. I have been waiting for about a year for the right set to come along. There is absoutly nothing wrong with these rims and they are about 2 years old. Two of the tires are balding but thats ok because the tire size is 195/50/16 and the correct size is 205/50/16 for our cars. The offset its about 10mm too small so they tuck in a bit but I will be getting some spacers to correct that to fit the right tires on. But thats after winter anyway. But for now im basking in the bling bling! hahaha. Good luck on your search.

It's hard to get new rims to look good on an older car. Those do look real nice though. good work. My only suggestion is this. See if you can find "MAZDA" center caps and get rid of the newer "M" caps. It's a minor detail but the rims would have my full approval then.

For the Aussie guys:

I was in Bob Jane on the weekend and was just wondering whether I should fork out like AUS$270 each for some new AMG 17", when I asked whether they had any Protege or '6' rims out the back- yep- $50 bucks each.....for some Swirl Protege's....sweeeeeeetttttttttttttt!!!

The only prob is- I picked up 16" x 6 Protege rim (swirl style which looks cool)... but man it felt HEAVY!!!! This is the only reason why I didn't get them.

Anyone know how they weigh-up compared to other wheels??

Tassie, but If I was you i'd simply go to a few high-turnover stores like Bob Jane, see what they've got & ask for them to give you a call if they ever get in what you're after.

The store I went to said they get protege rims in all the time...

I wouldn't mind waiting for some '6' 16x7 or 17x7- they look sweet. Not sure how much these would cost, or how often they'd come in though, especially 17x7's.
