I should introduce myself, I am an older car and motorcycle nut of the 59 vintage.
I have one bad habit and that is being cheap. So a $1800 93 red MX6 with 128,000 km was too good to pass up.
It will be my spring and fall car and for those days where more than 2 people need seats.
Winter is a 93 B2600i 4x4 and summer is a 98 Z3. Bikes 2006 DRZ400SM, 74 MG Eldorado 850 and a 93 Bimota DB2.

I would like to do a few things to the car but mostly I like the simple look. The days for wings and serious ground affects are past me now, but maybe with the right car.
This one should just have some nice wheels (Suggestions are welcome, but I have an idea of a Black center with polished outer edge and a ⅜"trim of matching red on the outermost edge so it almost looks like the tire has a red stripe. Something from the 60's) that can sport some low profile sticky tires, good in the rain as that is what spring and fall are all about in the wet coast of Canada.
Black out the windows and perhaps wrap the top in black so it is all one color.
Lastly a set of headers and an exhaust that lets the true music of that V6 come out. If you know of any products that are better than others, let me know please.

Welcome to the board!

That's low mileage, and a good price if the body is in good condition (as it should be for a BC car). There aren't many MX6 left nowadays, especially ones with little rust and that haven't been messed up.

Just got it home, the V6 is nice but it needs better tires. Like I said I have a 93 Mazda truck and it has not been as well taken care of as this car so it shows some surface rust on the exposed bolts here and there in the engine bay and so on. I expected this car to be the same but it is as if it is ten years younger.

I will take some pictures and post them soon.

Nice find with the 6.. and you cant beat the mileage..
I bought my '94 in July '95 w/300km .. now at only 131,102km.. Not my daily ride, so you've got a lot of Km's to go.
I'm running GT Radial Champiro 228’s - 215/55/16, installed on Mille Miglia MM11-2(Plus) 16x7.5 rims. Tires are not performance tires, but they're good for our BC weather..and real good in the dry. Been thru various brands over the years, tho, like who hasn't...
Anyway, welcome..and enjoy your ride...

Hey bud. Seem to know your wheels. I'm looking at a set of 17" stocks from a Mazda 3 2005. I was thinking 205/40/17's would be good, but how much difference would be it to go to 215/45/17's? Same wheel.
I know they aren't the best but cheap aluminums that get away from the terrible stock 15" flower petals.

My 93 is stock with brand new strut assembly both sides. I'd like to make sure clear them if I buy brand new tires

Im no expert on wheels.. tho I've done some research when I upgraded from 15's to 16's and a comparable tire. Went thru a few sets of 16's...and now still running on GT Radial Champiro 228’s - 215/55/16s. Not a high end tire, nor low profile, but in these everyday conditions, they work for me..
When you change your wheel size and tires of course there is the Speedo issue involved... Ive used this http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html - to see what that difference is, if it's important, while on the road, in relation to what speed you're actually doing , in relation to what You should be doing... Hopefully a cop wont pull you over to doing 5-10kph more than what you should normally be driving at.. - Haven't had that happen yet, .....!
With regards to your considerations.. I dont think there'll be much of a difference between the .205/40/17's vs 215/45/17's on the same wheel. They both should fit. The New wheel set-up/Off Set, may be something to look at, to see if you need 'spacers'.. Like it did..!!

...Nice looking, clean Ride there...! - A stock spoiler on the rear, would bring up to date, imo. - As per the showroom..!! - Just a thought..!!

The offset didn't give me any worries once the wheels were on the car, going with a higher positive didn't change much of anything at a 7.5mm difference from the stock 15".

...A substantial change. - So long as the ride is good, then you're good to go..!

Wow I haven't been here in forever. Nostalgia.

Congrats on the purchase. I had a white 93 as a my first car and still miss it to this day. Still think it's one of the best looking cars I have ever owned. I may be looking for another as a daily in the near future :)

If my math is correct, that is only 70,000 miles on a 24 year old car - only about 3,000 miles a year. That is nothing ! My 1994 has 245,000 miles. At 200,000 miles, I had to make a decision whether to look for another car, or start replacing parts on this one. I went with learning and replacing, and now have just about replaced every part that wears. It doesn't make a sound or a rattle on the highway.

Well I had a set back with other stuff getting in the way but I hope I have beat that trans leak in my Z3. I'm driving the car as of now and it could use a set of syncros for second gear. I put in a new alternator (possible without the motor being moved, but just). There are some little things that need attention and there was a local guy to us selling one for parts but I could not contact him. I would have bought the whole car and stripped it.
I will be looking for wheels but it is not a super important thing. Would like to play with the exhaust for a better sound than stock.
