today on the way home from i felt like racing. well, every day i feel like racing :) but in 2 weeks of being in detroit i havent had one challenge!!

today i lined up right next to a 350z. a younger guy was driving, so i figured he might give it a shot. lowe and behold, he drove like a grandpa!! has anyone raced one? from a stand still or from a roll? i know it would be no problem for me on a roll ;) however im kinda nervous about racing one from a stand still. any thoughts?

my uncle has the Track Edition with a nismo filter system and nismo wheels and suspension. to me it seems like it has a ton of torque down low and pulls very hard up to 110 (not that i would know:D ) . its safe to say that his would destroy my 6, but it if you have lots of mods id say you could take one. i think they all have the same motor (vq35de?) but the track model has more suspension upgrades. anway, ive kinda wondered the same question.
there are a good number of them in houston. i was there the whole summer living with my mom in between semesters, and i raced 2 350z's, and a g35 coupe.

1) the first 350 was a standard, and i got a really bad launch, which is something that you can't do with those cars cuz they'll tear you up if you dont get a good launch. he stayed ahead of me i was not able to pass him

2) raced an auto from a 50 mph roll, and i pulled on him slowly but surely up to about 100 when i had a little less than a car length on him.

3) the g35 was a 6 speed, and i think he may have reved too high on the launch, and i got a decent one, so i pulled about a car in first, but after that i couldn't really put any more length on him.

how's your turbo doin? have you been to the track yet? just like you said - make sure you either race one from a roll, or know what you're doing on the launch
I haven't been able to race one yet in my Mustang either... but they are identical in numbers. I can't wait for the day.

As for your boosted 6, I think it is a drivers race too .

And we know you suck at driving Brian, so I say you would lose ;)

p.s.
Gotten to run any 99+ Mustangs yet?
hey aggiedjo2, i raced an 03 mustang in my wrx with a slipping clutch about two weeks ago. some reason it killed me. p.s.- on the back it said "SVT" and "COBRA"

:D :D :D
yeah those actually have some balls :D

with your mods you should be bale to beat a GT right? Or at least give them a run for their (my) money? Right?

Good loss... I know a girl indirectly from San Antonio who has a 500+hp 03 Cobra. It goes high 11s.
I think that you can take a stock 350Z, but traction would be your biggest problem. Catch them from a roll if possible.

I've seen a stock (bone stock) 350Z run a 13.9 at the track with a kick ass driver.

Juggalo
hehe, ya im kinda bad at shifting from 1st to 2nd. its so damn notchy!! i think im going to change the mtx fluid next spring. i believe that should stop that problem.

as for the turbo, its kick ass :) today i beat the **** out of it. the first time i really gave it hell from 2nd to fifth. there was a supercharged zx3 behind me, and i just freakin pulled on him sooo hard. :) the EGT never got over 1300 degrees, and the boost was about 7-8psi. running strong...need intercooler hooked up.
yeah i have beaten all the mgt's i have raced in my wrx. a lot of them will get too much wheelspin so ill just destroy them. but yeah i had no chance against the cobra

yeah wheelspin seems to forever plague mustangs. i always get them on the launch. the one point where i refuse to race a gt is from a 40-50 mph roll. then their torque just owns me and makes it hard as hell to reel one in, but from a stop i'm good if i get a decent launch. and from 50+ i'm good too. i totally owned one from a 75-115mph roll, and then watched a new accord beat him too. it was the newest body style.

the backend on the stock 99+ Mustang is very easy to break loose if you don't know how to drive well. It is fun as hell to do though :D. With AEM upgraded suspension parts itis easy to make it plant. Some stiffer srpings, adjustable struts, and some better/wider rubber and you are good to go!!!

I have read stories of people with stock MGT's trying to break the tires loose with this setup, and can not do it without VERY much effort.

so Brad, wanna race from a 40 roll? ;)
sure just for ****s and giggles but you'll own me.

after that we can go from a stop and you can see what a 9 pound flywheel and 215 horsepower does in a 2600 pound car =)

hey marcus didn't you say you were planning on ordering some exhaust and intake mods in the very near future? whats goin' on with that?

Damn man... I'm actually pissed about that!!! I had the money for the exhaust, and was like a week from ordering it. Then I decided to move in December when my lease comes up to a cheaper place. That means I have to use my mod money (around $400 or so) for a deposit on my new place wherever that may be!!) So I have save up all over again!!!

It'll be another month or so now!!!

youre running 7-8psi NON intercooled?

im gonna be driving my car non intercooled for a few weeks, because the guy fabricating my w/a core took his time... Im picking up the car this weekend regardless, but the ic assembly is something dan can build off car, so onc ethe fab guy gets it to him, i'll be good.

but even at 4psi (tial WG spring) im paranoid to run it non intercooled :\
ya, im not to crazy about it either. but hell, i built it to beat on it. if she blows, oh well. i had some fun. :) im glad to hear you'll soon be boosted to goat. you'll love it on the eway.
