Hmm.. Main two options are to turbo your current one, or get a KL-ZE and work with that. Could turbo the ZE, I've seen it work nice, but most choose the DE for lower compression.

Either way would take a good knowledge and understanding, so if you're wondering what to do, well.. You may get my idea.

But a ZE with bolt ons should suffice. ZE is roughly a 13 second motor, so possibly down in the 12's if you're a good driver...
if the KL-ZE is a 2.5.. and i think it is... thats what i have.. i know its a 2.5 v6.. i thought the motor i have is the biggest mottor that came stock in the mx6.. but i dont know much.. i could be wrong.
The American MX-6 came with the KL-DE for the V6. The ZE is a 2.5l also, but the ZE has higher compression, a 500rpm higher redline, longer intake runners if I remember correctly, and higher VRIS points. No EGR system either. It features 200hp @ 165 ft lbs of torque(Some say 160, I saw a dyno of one stock put out 165 however) as opposed to 164 hp @ 160 ft lbs of torque in the DE.

It's mostly a basic swap, minus the vacuum lines, EGR system, ECU, and other applicable things.

Although it can run on the standard A-Spec ECU, just not as efficiently...

The I4 has like, 98whp, haha. It needs turbocharging...

mostly true short of the higher redline ... the ZE has actually weaker valvesprings which hurts is high end capability...in reality (mechanically speaking) it redlines at a lower rpm than the DE does....its just that the DE doesn't breath at those rpms so even though it can spin those rpms its pretty useless to do so

in addition to the additional compression the intake manifold and heads are slightly different. The cams are also slightly different, basically meant for higher rpm...which is really stupid combined with the weaker valvesprings....which is why i've got aftermarket valvesprings for my ZE

he has a 96 it will be a little bit more complicated to swap because he would have the OBD2

also the I4 is 118 hp stock, my old 4-banger had 370,000 kms on it and could still smoke little honda rice burners they aren't as slow as some may think as long as they are 5-spd
deff 5 speed..

At the wheels though? As far as I remember, the I4 had 98 wheel horsepower. 118 at the crank, but only 98 at the wheels...

Hmm, perhaps I should've rephrased that. When looking at your dash, you will see your gauges say to shift a DE by 7k, whereas a ZE at 7.5k, haha.

From what I've read, at least.
the car needs top end.. i know a 4 cly 4-2-1 header would make top end.. but in this car i dont know.. a turbo would spool at high rpm. so what would help top end??
i have a 96 v6 as well. i was always able to pull away from other cars from a dig unless they were rear wheel drive or AWD and knew how to launch. what do you shift at? 1st gear should always be redline and than every gear after that at 6400rpms-6500rpms as the powerband drops around there. it's not always about the car but the driver.

1st and 2nd are not that great but 3rd gear in this car is really nice. i am use to my 1st and 2nd winning races for me. now it my 3rd.. i got a new job and all my buddys that work there all have really nice cars. there is a tc, 2 stis, turbo jetta, turbo a4, and a turbo civic.. among a few more.
i shift around 61 rpm ever gear just becosue of the powerband drop. thats were the frount end starts to drop.
KLZE drops a valve if u rev it above 7k... when i try to pull in front of the guy next to me at a lane merge (see, i don't street race) i always try to shift at 6.8k to be on the safe side.

as for making it fast, just turbo it. u'll be more than able to keep up with your friends depending on the existing condition of your motor.
as of a turbo.. i know i will need a new ecu or the turbo upgrade.. what more do i need as in fuel pump and injecters..... not sure if if thats the right spelling to lazy to care lol. talkin about it with my buddy that has a A4 and its looking like about 800 for the turbo kit. and a extra grand or 2 on just the tuning..... alot of money.. lookin for a little insight on this. and once again to lazy to look what is the 0-60 time on a stock 6??

Not true at all. Search is ur friend to answer that question.
