OBD-I vs OBD-II

Hey guys. Ok, so I know the 96 Mx6 comes with an OBD-II ECU, but whats the difference between the I and the II? All the eProm's and chips and whatnot are made for the I. Is there any huge difference? If I were to put the ODB-I chip in my Mx6, after I put a KLZE in there, and then get the chip that's reprogrammed with the KLZE VRIS points, would it have a negative effect on anything? Thanks.

There's more O2 sensors.
And "pre-cats" in the front and rear manifolds.
Ok, so, I wouldn't just be able to pull out the I and put in the II? What would happen if I did?

You would spend many many hours getting it to work. Not impossible, just not worth it.
Ok, thanks for the input. I guess then, the best thing to do would be just to get a Jspec ECU?

Or get an Aspec ECU. They're not that expensive used.
Well, my 6 is up and running with an Aspec right now. I'll have KLZE cams, heads, IM, TB and IAC controller put into it in a couple of weeks, so that's why I'm looking to correct the VRIS points. I will want to, right?

I've yet to correct my VRIS points on my KLZE and I run fine.
So you don't have idle problems or anything? Don't the VRIS open at the wrong times or something?
Your OBD II will have a few problem with the ZE. As far as I know the OBDII ECU have an engine specific programming so not sure how you would fair.

rylinkus your is an OBD I so the only difference are the VRIS points. The OBD II is a whole different matter. I'm pretty sure that KLZE never came as OBDII but I could be wron.g As far as I know the KL31 are all OBDI I

Converting from OBDII to OBDI can be achieved but like said above, prepare to spend a billion hours and you have to be fairly knowledgable in wiring.
