Opinions on custom bodywork plans

I want to get my car repainted next year sometime. It will stay black but I want to modify the body a little. I'd like the front bumper, sides, and rear to sit lower.

My car currently has the LSi package on it and I want to keep those pieces and possibly mold them into the body. Here's my car right now.

Option 1: cut the front bumper at the body line and have it extended down an inch or two. Then the body line will be filled and the lip will be molded on.

Option 2: space the front lip off the bumper by another inch or two and fill the gap between the bumper and lip. Fill the body line in the front bumper and mold the lip on.

I want to lower the sides to match and mold the LSi side pieces into the skirt. The mudflaps will be removed. How would a good body shop go about making the sides sit lower? Would they have to make custom side skirts or can they just mold/bondo the body lower?

The rear bumper will be extended and filled like this. The side marker will sit an inch or two lower to match the front one.

What do you guys think?

Anyone with photoshop talent want to work something up? It shouldn't be too hard.

If I wanted to lower the rear I would cast a mold of part of the bumper, the mold would also have flanges that go in like ] then I would cast a part from the 2-3 inch tall mold. Cut the bumper on its like and insert the new part. Bond them, fill, sand, wheel lines, ect.

Basically this is what I want to do. Don't mind the crappy paint skills. It's a rough chop.

Possibly with something like this in the rear

What is funny is Ive wanted to to both with my rear also. If I make a partial mold you can get one from me.

At first it sounded weird but after seeing your PS it doesn't look that bad:tup:
If that was my car I would probably do the invader rear add ons, new side skirts (custom fit from other car) and space the front lip or go with a new lip in front.
I really like the impressed rear bumper with dual outs.

Who owns that car I would like to talk with them?

I'll take one if you do it. That would save me a huge headache.

I like the pieces I have on there. The car just isn't low enough for my taste. I will mold the front lip on and I will probably mold the side pieces into some skirts somehow.

I thought about the invader rear add-ons but I like the extended bumper a LOT more. I want to keep a pretty factory look and the invader add-ons are pretty aftermarket looking.

I AM toying with the idea of modifying some prelude sides though. Provided I can find a set of plain ones. Literally I am looking for a set of sides that are just plain. No vents or bumps or anything. They would be super clean molded on. If I don't mold the LSi pieces into the side skirts I will send them to Lambera to make molds of.

The rear bumper of that car is awesome looking. I want to copy that exactly if I can find out what the recessed part is from.

Not sure if he's a member or not but here is his cardomain.

I like the rear... You may need to get you spar tire cut out so you can do it.
Yeah, that rear bumper looks really good in my opinion too. Do it. :)

Car owner and the guy who built the bodykit are members of my local Mazda club. PM me your question or contacts and I'll see if I can get in touch with them.
Hey buddy!

We did contact them and it sounded like they just made it by hand from a stock bumper.

To bad they cant make me a mold of the bottom half.

Shouldn't be that hard to replicate if one has the skills to work with FG.

I messaged him on cardomain and he said he will sign up for mx6.com soon. Want to ask him to join now? We would all like to see better pictures of his car. Make sure he posts in this thread or private messages me and lambera. We are both very interested in his car.

Cheers!

Mici! How the hell are you? Is your 6 back on the road yet? Keep us updated man!
Yeah true its just so much more work to make it by hand and with replicating the rest of the MazdaSpeed kit I dont really have time.

I'm fine thanks. :) The car is still under some work, but I'm getting there. Slowly but slowly. I'm working on a comeback for 2009.

Mici
I'm looking to do something like that with the rear bumper, but leaving the bottom cup out and bring the exhaust out the left side at a angle, but I'm going to have to cut the spare tire out and weld a sheet of sheet metal where the spare tire was...
