Ok, I have done alot of searching about this, but I haven't been able to find what I'm looking for. I have about $1000 to spend. Can I get a pretty good paintjob done for this amount, or what are your experiences?
what are u looking to get for it?? what color is ur car now? what color do u want to get it painted? does it need any dents removed? do u want ur door jams, and engine bay painted. it should be enough to have a few small dents removed and get a good paint job if ur keeping it the same color..... otherwise maybe not..... it really depends what all u want done for $1000 and how good of a shop u take it to.
Well, there are basically no dents, and it is red, but I was thinking about repainting it Black, which then I would get door jams, engine bay, inside the trunk, etc. painted. I honestly know nothing about paintjobs, so I don't know if this should run me alot over 1000 or not. Also, if anyone knows any good paint shops in the Charleston, SC area I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thanx!
mine cost about 1000 to get done with house of kolor ppg paint. i also had rust everywhere and a fair amount of dents. a buddy of mine works at an engine shop and theyre affiliated with a paint place that did it for me. hope that helps
a good quality paint will not if you get a maaco yeah but wouldn't do that if i were you. well it is costing me 1600 but i'm getting multi color flakes in the paint
Well, for $1600 are you getting a color change, and are you getting the door jams, engine bay, etc painted as well. Also, is that including any bodywork?
Here's my experience in Atlanta. I just had my 6 repainted a different color at a Maaco franchise in Atlanta, jambs, trunk, hood, sunroof intererior spots, etc.
They did a fine job - it was the most expensive level and also did extensive body work.
The key thing to remember is Maaco is franchised - I was told to go ONLY to one shop in the Atlanta area. Quality can vary wildly in these places.
The paint cost $750 - usually $900 but i talked them down because of the money they were making off the body work.
Bottom line is the car looks great - I have a five year warranty - and I did my homework on which shop to take the car to.
I went to mmaco... DONT EVER GO TO MMACO! the paint job is decent, but i had to take it back 4 times until they got it right... i think that was crap! although, mmaco is a franchise so other places may do better jobs than the one i went to. If your getting door jams, trunk lid, and the hood, it'll be almost twice the price of the normal paint job... but the change of color is well worth it. also dont forget to have them black out your sunroof... good luck with the paint job eh!
