Just like the title states. I'd like to see pictures of 245/45/16 tires mounted on FD RX-7 wheels on a 2G MX-6. I've search and searched but was only able to come up with one solid picture. And even that picture wasn't the best.

I'm torn on what size to run with my FD wheels. I think the 225/50/16 has to big of a side wall. I ran that size many years ago on my old MX-6. And if the 245/45/16's doesn't pan out I will most likely put 225/45/16's on it. I will be using coilovers and should have enough room with spacers to make these fit.

Let me see what you have. Feel free to email me at [email protected] if that is easier.

Thank you!

I run 245/45-16s on FD wheels on a 1G.

I wouldn't recommend it. Sidewall is very similar to 225/50.

Tires are absurdly expensive and stock is a big issue.

Just plan on going 225/45 if you really hate the 225/50 that much. Life will be much more enjoyable, not that there's a huge amount of 225/45s either, but it's better than trying to get 245/45s, not to mention $300 cheaper for a better tire.

225/45/16 = 3.9862" sidewall (23.9" overall diameter)

225/50/16 = 4.4291" sidewall (24.9" overall diameter)

245/45/16 = 4.3405" sidewall (24.6" overall diameter)

The overall diameter measurements were taken from tires listed on TireRack.

I'm not to concerned with tire cost honestly. The car will be used for weekend (3 season) driving. A Toyo Proxes T1R 245/45/16 is $119 per tire but are backordered. If I went with a 245 this would be the tire I would buy. If I went with a 225/45/16 I would go with the Toyo Proxes R1R at $164.00 per tire.

I'd still like to see pictures if anyone has any!

I wouldn't cross-shop T1R and R1R. The 225/45-16 R1R is going to be MILES faster and stickier than a 245/45-16 T1R. T1Rs suck bad.

The only 245/45 worth buying for performance driving if you're concerned about performance would be the RA1 or RE-11. The RA1 is about $1000 delivered for a set of 4, and the RE-11 is almost never in stock.

Sorry, i'm not trying to hijack the hell out of your thread or anything. :)

I'll give you a pic or two of 245s on FDs, at least.

This. Times eleventy. Plus a 245 is a bit pinched on a 8" rim. Would be much better suited on a 9" rim assuming you are going for some form of handling.

For reference, 225/50/16 on FD's. Considering the 225/50/16's all seem to be built pretty wide I think even they can greatly benefit from a 9" wheel.
