I was wondering if anyone would have any ideas why my tx5 turbo seems to ping regardless of the conditions. I run it on premium all most all the time and even on the coldest nights i can here it pinging between 3 and 4000 rpm. The car is still completely stock, so i am wondering if it is normal. Also when i am forced to run only regular as some servo's here still only sell it, the pinging is a joke.. even on partial/little throttle it will start pinging once revs reach any more than 2500.

I am wonder if perhaps the knock sensor is faulty and causing this? any ideas would be appreciated.

what is the gap size on your plugs, maybe you need a smaller gap approx 8mm

Only use premium fuel and fully synthetic oil.

When was you last oil change?

Apparently my car pings a little at wot at about 5k rpm!

Have you got any coolant in your radiator, is there anything in there.

Maybe u could get a high flow thermostat.

Get a cold air duct!

And see how all this goes and let me know and i will research a little for you!

Yeah i will try more of these things once i get some more money again. Changed the oil yesterday anyway as it was due, was using mobil 1 but could only afford mobil synthetic S. The pinging seems to have stopped more, no where near as audible as it used to be under WOT.

The plugs are currently the recommended gap, but i my try a smaller gap later.
