Hey guys. I have put my plans for a CarPC on hold probably indefinitely so I need a better way to keep my laptop battery alive while I am tuning.

Who makes a good power inverter for cars? There is a deal on woot.com today for 2 100watt power inverters for $30 shipped.

I've had trouble with lower wattage power inverters (200W) while using my old HP laptop that had a 90W power cord. My newer laptop is fine though (don't know it's wattage).

So I suppose your only issue would be with poor ventilation based on where you mount it and how hot it is in the vehicle.

I tossed an 1100W power inverter in my car years ago and put a full size PC with 17" monitor in my back seat, worked fine for that short trip.

That one from NewEgg looks like a better idea. It's a little larger, so your mounting location will be slightly more limited. I'd go with this one.

Edit - I bought a soda can sized inverter from Advance a couple years ago. No clue on it's power rating, but it works great on both the 90W and 65W laptops. Might be able to save some wait time by checking that out first.
