After dropping in the ZE I attempted to reconnect the power steering situation. Somehow I managed to bust one of the lines which caused a major leak (Its so hard to work back there). I just unplugged the switch wire going to the pump so I didn't burn out the pump, and continue to spray fluid everywhere.

Now here's the question...since I'd rather not have power steering to begin with, can I jsut leave it unplugged? My guess is, besides all the hydrolics, the mechanical end of it is still sutible because I can still steer without the pump. But is the ratio of turns on the wheel still correct with how far the tires turn?
Since they didn't make a non-powersteering for our cars I can't replace the sytem with a manual one.
Anyhelp would me mucho appreciated.

Dude, have you tried to steer the car with absolutely no power assistance?

I have been experiencing intermittent power steering pump failure for a while and it takes all my strength to steer in tight spaces when it goes out. (I am 6'2" 190).

To answer your question yes you can drive around none power assisted, but why would you want to? Also, I am not sure if the steering shaft, universal joint or pinion are design to take the the extra torque reguired to turn the wheels.
