Hello,
I think it's time for me to start a project thread here now :)

I would like to start with giving a big thank you to everyone that have helped me a lot (I think there will be more ):
  • You-Ask
  • Dutch
  • Gavin
  • wezel
  • fredio54
IMPORTANT! The order in the above list is not important, I'm as greatful to every bit of help

Index for the complete project so far

The project car is a Mazda 626 hatchback from 1990 with the FE3 engine.
I got this car from my grandparents on my fathers side and it's in very good condition. They have kept it in a
garage and taken good care of it.

This is my second car. My first car (still driving it) is a 626 coupe from 1984 with a FE-carby. engine.
So I'm not completly lost when it comes to cars, but there are a few things that are new to me:
About the car:
  • ECU (standalone, MS2 in this case)
  • Turbo
To get the car in the shape I want:
  • Welding
  • Painting with a paint-gun
The engine will remain un-opend this year and I will concentrate on the body, suspension and a little bit of audio :)
Currently the engine have about 200Hp when I have configured the MS2 good.

Engine:
  • Un-opend
  • Mitsubishi TD04-15T @ 0.4Bar
  • Denso 180lph fuelpump [not installed]
  • Denso 440cc injectors
ECU:
  • MegaSquirt 2 PCB v3.0 controlling the fuel only for now
  • Innovate LC-1
Drivetrain:
  • untouched...
Brakes:
  • Braided Stainless steel lines [not installed]
  • more to come...
Suspension - Rear:
  • AWR trailing links [not installed]
  • Addco 7/8" swaybar [not installed]
  • SuperPro poly bushings [not installed]
  • MX6 GT tiebar [not installed]
  • MX6 GT RSTB [I have not bought this yet]
  • more to come...
Suspension - Front:
  • SuperPro poly bushings [not installed]
  • Addco 1" swaybar [not installed]
  • Dutch FSTB [not installed]
  • more to come...
2006-08-11 - Some pictures of the car when I first got it (tinted the windows in my grandparents garage the first day):

2006-08-14 - When I got it home I had to clean the enginge bay

Subscribed... this sounds like a wicked project and it's already looking damn good. Keep it up, especially since Elanzer's slowed up on his 626 hatch build :)

looking really good mate. cant say i really like the exhaust manifold design, looks quite restrictive to me and will create a lot of turbulence.

but none the less well done for the amount of time u have put into it!!!!!!!

hows she going with the td04? plans on upgrading that soon?

Thank you [email protected] :)
I bought the turbo setup complete from YouAsk so he get's the credit for putting it together and welding :)
The exhaust manifold isnt the most efficiant, but it works for 210Hp so it will have to do for know, atleast til I know how to weld ;)

She runs very good with the td04 :)
The plan is to upgrade engine parts next year because then I will have had the time to save up for some money to buy a GT tranny and everything that is needed to swap it.
Once I have that tranny I will plan on taking out the engine and change the pistons and so on.

Whatever you do, do NOT let Sick see that manifold, or he'll have kittens.

It's looking great man, I'm very impressed by the level of work that's gone into it. Sure you haven't hacked half the car apart like Elanzer, and haven't put on a kit like Elanzer, but your thing oozes sleeper. :)

Keep it up, looking forward to seeing more.

hehe then I hope that I'll be able to weld a new manifold :p

Thank you very much :)

As soon as the snow is gone I will take down the whole suspension and sandblast it and then put a nice coat of paint on it.
