I've read people saying that if you are manually going through the gears in an ATX that it will damage the transmission and I'm wondering why? What makes manually moving through the gears more damaging than when the computer chip does it? Aren't they basically doing the same thing so why would it damage the tranny when you are trying to control the shifting vs the computer chip controlling the shifting?

I know that the ATX is supposed to be weak but still shifting is shifting isn't it?
