Hi guys, I spotted a 91 mx6 gt for sale on Facebook Marketplace and am strongly debating on buying the car. Is there anything I should look out for? Also, how reliable are these cars? It is a 5 speed turbo
It's very reliable and well built car but it's 30 years old.
Belts, gaskets, seals, hoses, rubber pipes, bushing, mounts, ball joints, tie rods... are all things that wear and deteriorate with heat and time...
Bone stock it should be as or more reliable than any other 30year old car with expected maintenance and age related wear problems, as a modification project at the very least the head gaskets needs to be changed before any modifications are performed.
As stated they are extremely reliable, easy to work on if something does go wrong and of course very fun to drive. The 90-92 MX6 GT's are probably slightly more refined than the 88 and 89 GT's but all of GT models from the years I mentioned are difficult to find so if the 91 model you found checks out I'd go for it.
