Hey. What is your guys' experience with Rota? I have heard some really good stuff about them, but they just seem sooo low of a price. They would be used w/ R-compound tires for autox only. Thanks.

Great little wheels. I used a set of Subzeros with Potenza S0-2 Pole position awhile back. Very light weight especially if you stick with the 16" size. Run them with 225/45 and you are set. Or if you are on stock suspension than 215 50 might be abit better; but I assume you got suspension done so 225/45 all the way.

Hey, thanks. Actually, I dont have suspension (other than brakes and RSTB), but I plan on it w/i the next few months; before I start the autox season. :D Thanks again.

I just started thinking, these will fit 16-45-225 right? Or does it depend on the offset, particular tire, etc? Thanks.

Isn't 225/45 a little wide for 16x7" rims? Most tires specs for that tire size call for 7-8.5" wheel width. Sure they will fit, but won't a closer match yeild less rollover, better steering response, and less wear?

Sorry, I dont know jack about tires. So, you're saying since the rim isnt very wide compared to the tire, the tire will "stick out further" causing more sidewall rollover? If this is so, what size would you recommend going to? 215? I would really like the tires wider than the stock 205. Thanks again.

One more thing, the reason I want 16s is mainly because of a lower height and less unsprung weight so that handling is improved. Would it be better to go w/ 17s so that I could fit the 225s for more grip, and more weight, or should I get 16s w/ only 215 or 205?

You can fit 225 on a 7" wheel easily. It will give a slightly bulgin sidewall but the 45 series will cure most of that. The optimum size would be 16x8 running 225/45 but it's hard to find 16x8 (maybe get yourself a set of FD like i did.) They are actually much better than any Rota out there and weight less (remember we're talking 16x8 not 16x7.)

Sidewall rollover is a bad thing, but a stiff and straight sidewall can also be a bad thign if it causes uneven breakaway when your in a turn. Yu want a straight profile with a slight curve in the ceter of the profile; this generally gives the best charactereistics for handling. Of course sidewall profile isn't that important considering the varying degree of tire compound and grip level.

And once again to reiterate my point, GET SOME FD. I've had them for maybe a few weeks and man are they awesome. Once i get enough money for a good set of 225/45 tires they will be perfect. Right now I am running 245/45 which is a bit too much grip for the mx6. No breakaway characteristic at all and hell on my engine and transmission. Maybe if it was a track car it'd be great but on the streets there is such a thing as too much traction.

Yeah 3rd gen rx7 wheels. Probably your best bang for the bucks. you can find a clean set with tires for $400 floating all over the US.

Oh and they came as two version, PFD and the latter type. The PFD is 13.8 lbs but is prone to cracking due to a flaw in the casting process whilst the non-pfd are about 16 lbs. I got a set of PFD off of an R1 since they came on those cars, alot lighter but still gives me shiver thinking of the possibilities. But it's not a track driven car so i doubt i will ever abuse it enough to crack.

My set of FD with those big ass 245/45/16 fits perfectly on my 6 and they weight a good deal less than my stock 15 inch wheels and 205/50/15 tires. And not to mention they look almost stock. Check out my pics in the Car Pic Post section to see them on the car.

Hey, thanks man. I'll check it out. But, if I decide NOT to get the RX7 rims, I basically have 3 options, what would be best.

1) 16" rotas w/ 225s- possibly too much rollover
2) same rims w/ 215s- not as much grip
3) 17" rims w/ 225s- more unsprung weight, higher ride height, worst acceleration
