replaced plugs and wires... after my little adventure with water... it fixed the idle significantly.. but its still a little rough...

plus it ticks.. not a tap -= like piston slap.. im familiar with that.. , no, this is a steady tick.

what other things should i check ??

by the way its a 93 2.0l

oil - done.

anything else to take a look at? the ticking is fairly loud, and steady as a metronome... i checked the belts and can't see anything obvious.. but they will all be getting changed soon (timing belt service) so that should eliminate it if it is a belt.

the guy at autozone said i should clean my throttle body and check fuel system... (how do i check the fuel system?)

as for the tick, he said take a stethescope and listen if the tick is at the top end or bottom end of the engine. once i find out - i dont know what to do with that information though heh.

any other ideas?

thanks!

i am using castrol sytec... which is also a sythetic. i doubt thats what is making my car idle roughly...

shoudl i check fuel filter? is that something i can replace myself? never done one before.

also... shoudl i replace the dist. cap and rotor?

finally, it idles a little low. how do i adjust this on a 4cyl?

thanks
