Afetr looking all weekend for Redline fluid for my tranny and coming up with NOTHING ( I couldnt find anyplace that carried it?)
I did some reading on Royal Purple, it is compatible with cars requiring ATX fluid, MTX GL4 or GL 5 fluid, it is a synthetic fluid and DOESN'T contain any of the agents that people say "damages brass synchros"...the standard MX6 uses 3.9 quarts and you will need to buy 4... I found it at Napa for $7.99 a quart, the color is ACTUALLY PURPLE and I noticed the difference RIGHT AWAY, shifting is alot easier (something about the fluid and pressure?) and the dreaded 1st and 2nd shifts are WAY easier, any grinding that I may have had is completely gone, abnd I say say good enough things about synthetic gear oil.....
it is NOT a cure all however....if your transmiision is in good shape but appears to have some kinks, I'd suggest changing your shifter bushings AS WELL as flushing and installing some synthetic gear oil....it might not make you car any faster, but it'll be happier getting there
