Yep it's just the gearing htat Mazda used. you'll also notice that you can step on the gas and actually accelerate pretty quickly in 5th, while the other cars have to downshift to do the same. With a 7000 rpm redline there is no need to worry, I've run mine at 4500 rpm for 6 hours straight and the car loved it.
