My '92 MX6 wouldn't hit 3000 rpms until I was at about 70mph. I just traded it in for a '96 and it'll hit 3000 when I go about 61-63mph. Both cars are manual transmissions and the gearing must be different. Please tell me how I could change the gear settings to lower the rpm.

THANX

I'm assuming these numbers are in 5th gear? My engine turns over at 3K at about 69-70 so your 92 was normal. The 96 on the other hand, 3K RPM does seem kinda high for 62mph, but aren't they capable of higher RPM's than us?

in my '92 in 4th gear (ATX mind you), it revs at about 2500 at 70.

it's all good man, you are at exactly what the rpms should be at.... 3000 rpm for around 60, and 4000 rpm for a little over 80... it's the NORM for 2nd gens
