"Pillow of safety"

ROTFL...:D
I think that's what they call "airbags" in the northeast US

Same like "Amplifiers of rigidity" translates to "Viagra"

Or something.

Oh, I knew what it meant. I just thought the extremely literal translation was quite funny. :)

Freddie, i dont take much on the web as accurate.

Thats why i will find things out for myself

This new fe that i have will prob get a dyno run in non turbo form, just to see how much hp it has.

I know how hard the steel sump goes, just want to check this alloy one.

I think its a waste to not find out its original potential, before turboing it.

Then i can see if it has 170 hp, as some are claimed to have.

From memory, the engine number is FE 999139. Now you claim to be able to tell alot from there numbers, so here is your chance..........

its a 97+ engine, should have 10.0 compression, no EGR, should have VICS on it. then again it could be FE-DE.

when you get it have a look at the cams

None i have seen have EGR's. But they have had VICS.

One thing that is weird. the spark plug cover is bolted down with bolts, not nuts..

It has the ported Vics chamber and is a "Ford" FE

It has a 4 wire o2. Minimal vac lines .

Thanks for posting the pictures, Trip.

As you can make out. its a Ford badged FE and you can also see the valve cover is bolted etc.

The injector loom is 8 pin only and the ECU is the 2 plug/conector version. FEFE.

all fords were bolted intead of dome nuts.

ECU is a later one. in later models (F2 or Fe) they went with ATX combined ECUs. ATXs had three plugs and MTXs had two.

i have a 98 model ECU lying around from a Crouse-R model (apparently top perfromance and Luxury  , ugly as sin though) GVII Cargo. FENJ code and two plugs. also interesting point is that some later model FEs used KF airflow meeter, still MAF but KF. as well as i have a FE5A ECU.

the other day i came across FEXX4, the 4 is half the size of FEXX........ i have no idea where that one came from but it was used as a door stop :D
