I had 92/MX6, yet I had a crap engine (626 Carby). It's along story. Anyway, I like to do an engine swap soon. I was thinking into putting RX7 engine into my MX6. What do u guys think? Is it possible?
Or if there is any other suggestion, plz do.

let me be the 1st to reply before all the rest flame u.

u will be going to mod the hell out of the car to make that engine fit. u are switching the position of the engine from a rear wheel drive to a front wheel drive, and if u were thinking to make the mx6 a rear wheel drive car, ill say u will have to be one rich and skilled guy to do it. casue it will cost u a fortun(sp). do a search on this topic, casue there were lots of members that asked this question before.

Just get a F2T or FE3 or even just the F2 would be an improvement, but trying to mod a rx-7 engine to fit is going to be alot of work and money.

You will need the rx7 rear end, try to get one of the era with the LSD differential, You'll need its tranny, and you will probably want to get the 13bT motor.

You will need to get the gastank from a different car, or convert to fuel cell. You'll also have to cut your firewall slightly to make room the for tranny, Depending on the fit you might have to remove your center console.

Mounts shouldn't be too difficult.

if cosworth could put a F2T in his RX-7 I don't see why someone couldn't put a Rx-7 motor and rearend into a MX-6.

Didn't the tranny bolt right up from the rx7 to the F2T? If it did then that would idealy mean that the 13b would bolt up to the F2T tranny. So in theroy all you would have to do is fabricate motor mounts and reroute all the hoses, exhaust and intake to a fwd friendly setup. So in theroy its posaible but to date I haven't seen any fwd 13b's.

No, the bellhousing is different, cosworth had to make a bellhousing adaptor if I remember correctly. However the B2xxx series trucks had a tranny that will to the F2t.

why everyone straight away thinks RWD converion as well

you can do it, its been done in 323s and still FWD. you will have to go with 13B....... if not EFI you will need twin barrel as 4 barrel(more common) will not fit under bonnet. Bell housing is a bit of a drama, custom adaptor will be a must, im not too sure but in NZ the conversion in 323s is common so there might be a bellhousing avalible of the shelf for a B/E series of enignes. which means you would need to use that box.

if you are thinking RWD, find a RWD 323(OLD ONES) get gearbox and rear end from that, it will need some(understatement) modifications but the gearbox will bolt up to a Rotary no dramas.

if you up for it go for it. RX-6 was in designes (GC 626 coupe rotary FWD) and there was a Luce(FWD Rotary coupe) so its only natural :D

Humm... isn't the luce basicly an older 929 with a 13b in it? If so that would make for a sweet car to do some crazy **** in. Think about a 20b (3rotor) in a rwd 929. Add an lsd and you have a crazy jdm drift car and one hell of a sleeper if you could loss some wieght on the car. When did the 929/millinas stop being rwd?

20b engines are three rotor, 13b engines are two rotor.

There is a 20b powered sedan in japan, Its pretty similar to the 929. I had pictures at one time....

sorry evo, i should have been more specific which Luce i meant. its this one. FWD 13B

the luce you are talking about is this one. RWD 929 Coupe

The coupe version was a Cosmo

or this one

or this one

or this one

well this one is also known as RX4

the 3-rotor is not a sedan its a Eunos JE Cosmo, avalible ether in 13B-RE, 13B-REW or 20B-REW.

anyway, the first one is a rotary FWD which has a big brother 1500(1800 later model) but they are RWD, GO FIGURE

Those mirrors bug me, Aside from being impossible to adjust, and ugly, they just seem out of place.

Why are they there?

tub out your 6, riff off the rx7 body, put the 6 body on the 7 frame and walla. Short of a tub job and a custom frame itd be hard. the mono body of the 6 just wouldnt be stiff enough to handle all the extra crap for rwd unless you put some extra frame rails in there, kinda copy the 7's frame to the 6 or something, then make motor mounts and just alot of work, not daily driver project.

I like the look of the mirrors there. I think it'd be better for vision anyhow, you wouldn't have to turn your head so much to see the mirrors, and it'd give a larger field of view to your side.
