well heres the thing, I have no job and I dont have much money at all, I know I got what I paid for when I bought this car for $500 but I didn't expect to put this much money into it i'm almost up to the $3000 mark for work i've put into it... transmission, brakes, brake lines, exhaust, and plenty of other little bits and pieces but the waterpump went on me last week and it hasn't been running quite right since the new transmission and its going to need a clutch pretty soon too, I dont WANT to sell it because i'll never get back what I put into it because it still needs work (also needs a rocker panel) here are a few pictures of the car... its really not in that bad of shape other then the rocker but I just dont know anymore i'm getting kinda fed up with it, what do you all think I should do?

my interior isn't that dirty anymore...

keep it and slowly work on it. i mean, i had my first 6 when i was 19. i barely had what you call a job and went to school full time. i swear every week there was something wrong with it. every month there was a "$200" repair. it kinda felt like monthly payments. that first s6 is now relaxing in my back yard now that i have another. shes more than great now and everything's been replaced except the motor.. running 216k miles at the moment. keep her. after all the repairs, she'll be good to you.

the other problem though is its my only car, and I live in a small town where there is no public transit so once I do get a job the closest place to get a decent one is like a 40 minute drive.. I miss my RS lol even at 360,000 kms all original it ran perfect and never gave me any problems lol

thats the bad things with 15 yr old cars.. dont get one if your not willing to always work on it
Quoted for truth.

Just stick with it. Granted mine is getting a ZE put into it, and is sitting in the garage, but I had to do this with my 626 aswell. I've also realized every tie rod end and the lower ball joints (or entire control arms) must be changed. Old cars get worn out. Personally, for a car that is 14 years old with 188k+ miles on it, I think it's a gem. No rust, no nothing. Now yours has rust, but that can be fixed.

Or if you want, get another car.

I would probablly buy it from you if it didnt have the rusted panel and supposudlly soone to be dead clutch.

My personal opinion is to pawn it off on someone for 1K if you can before it dies and you have to stick more money into it.

Honestly if your that tight on money why get another car, you wont be able to get a decent car for the price you sell that mx6 for. Plus you already know whats wrong with this car, if you get another car you could be getting into more of a money pit then you can imagine, take it from someone whos done it before!

yea bout that mx6

I bought my mx6 for 2200 needing many repairs from the start such as an exhaust tire breaks and a rear light. As I was driving it home from the purchase the water pump went on me. So I replaced that along with a timing belt. Then Went my axle started calipers began to grab in the rear. It seemed my car was falling apart every day. Then recently my transmission had gotten cracked due to stress on it from somewhere. Still my car is falling apart and im in debt to my father for 1400, i have invested 2400 in this car and i happy that i did. these cars are great. replace the water pump and timing belt do an oil change and see where it goes from there
