Hey guys sorry about posting on the wrong thread. i was lazy to start a new one lol. Anyways.....

Yesterday i was dropping my dad off to work when while i was driving i noticed my clutch felt funny. The pedal seemed to stay down when it was de-pressed. I was like  wtf? At every traffic light i had to use my hand to pull the clutch pedal up.

When he got off i got outta the car and leaned down to inspect the pedal. It was still pressed down to the floor. I was like [shizzle]!. I got back in and tried to drive it to my house and then go see my mechanic cause he opens his shop @9am. I presssed the clutch in and tried to shift to 1st gear. It was locked in didnt let me shift to any gear. I pumped and pressed the clutch in again and barely got it in 1st gear. I pulled over to the side of the road and just parked it. Called the tow truck and got it towed to the shop. It was funny cause since my ryde is low and was parked on the side of the road the tow truck driver had difficulty getting the tow under my car. i had to roll it till it came on the road and there was clearance underneath. Took it to my mechanic.

My mechanic said its my master clutch cylinder that gave up. My clutch he said will still last me another couple more months. The master cylinder is the orginial part from 1993. He ordered the OEM part its like $189. So its fixed now and my clutch will still hold for couple more months.

Im planning on getting the combo deal CM clutch/flywheel/clutch line/engine mounts from RR-Racing. For those who have the fidanza flywheel or one of these products installed in ur mx6 do u guys think its worth it?.

Give me some feedback cause im planning on ordering these products soon.....Thanks guys....

good call on the RR-Racing deal... i should have took advantage of that when i did mine along with the ze swap. as u can see in my sig, i have the rr inserts and mx-3 flywheel with ACT clutch.

i haven't driven on a fidanza.. i kinda regret having the lighter mx-3 flywheel, because i don't actually race my car much. it creates quite a bit of discomfort during everyday drives...
it's requires more skill when starting on a steep hill, otherwise u'll stall the car. RPM also needs to be matched closer during shifts otherwise it makes a nice jerk. Or if you're very unskillful, u'll stall the car. i can only imagine the fidanza would magnify these effects. Good luck parallel parking on a steep hill.

the engine seems to vibrate more on clutch engagement, and is not as smooth. then again, it might be the ACT clutch grabbing a bit harder than the stock setup. all in all, i think my ride can just be described as 'rough' with this particular combo.

keep in mind that i'm 26 years old today, so this is an old man's opinion. some young man like yourself would probably prefer the rough ride.

uh im not that young im turning 24 next month just 2yrs younger than you dude lol...
Dealers in Canada are a huge rip off...I ordered a clutch master cylinder from a dealer in the States, and it cost me $91 US...you were stuck for time though, so no choice but to bend over LOL
lordco is your friend if you know what account to tell them.

any how you should test your clutch to see if you actually need it. If it slips while doing a 1,2,3 shift at 6500-7000rpm quick n hard shifts then it is worn.

i can test that for ya lol

RR dont sell fidanza any more they have another brand that is actually lighter than the fidanza. Either way it will take a while to get used to the clutch and light flywheel.

As for the master cyl i had a new one in my garage... also it is more common the clutch rubber hose to butst over a bad master or slave.

lol yea i guess. I wish we had more choices in terms of stores and prices like USA has AUTOZONE or other stores and we are stuck wit Canadian Tire, Lordco, etc. I mean stores where u can actually walk in not online.

hey boltz thx for the test drive offer....ummm i still got some life in my clutch for couple more months but i wana change them asap cause i dont wana be stuck in the winter. yeaaaa my mechanic showed me the old master cyl and yes the rubber hose was all busted up lol.
yaaa so i received my order yesterday.......CM Stage1 clutch kit/flywheel/CS SS clutch line/RR inserts. :jump:
Hoping to install them soon cause im tired of my old stock clutch.
Did you look with a flashlight from the passenger side down at the rear motor mount to verify which one you have in there? just so you don't get in to the job and fins it is the wrong one.

no i havent done dat yet:rolleyes: i should check soon:(
I have to say I regret going for the lighter flywheel at times, especially in stop and go traffic. Car jumps like a kid on halloween after trick or treating. Sometimes I have to ride the clutch to avoid it, mostly a first gear thing.

Only thing is its fun as hell to launch on back roads. So for me its worth the heck, and alot of my friends drive it with no complaints.

Now paying the extra 200 bucks for the exedy clutch was the best decision I ever made. I dont know if its common for the 6's, but my grabbing point is like 1 CM off the floor so it makes it difficult to stall as compared to other 5 speeds I have driven, but it is slightly more difficult to start on hills, I just give her a lil more gas in that case. I love driving my car more than any other I have driven hence why I had no problem dropping another 10 grand into it for parts and mods.
clutch grab 1 inch off the floor = suck but thats just a driver preference. MX6/probes typically have a grab point mid to top pedal travel if bled and adjusted correctly, Which is what i prefer.. Some modified pressure plates change the grab point.

I don't believe exedy makes anything other than OEM spec replacement thus the holding power is not increased. Not sure why the +200$ for an exedy is all about. Show me some part numbers and places which sell it... otherwise your mechanic pulled a fast one.
I paid right around $200 for the Exedy clutch kit from an auto parts place that supplies local garages. It included the pressure plate, the pilot bearing, and the release bearing too, along with the clutch alignment tool.

My old clutch used to grab near the floor too, but after a new clutch, cmc and slave cylinder, it's near the top now, and I definitely don't prefer it.

so that would be a base average price of an OE replacement clutch + $200 more for the exedy unit + the cost of installation.... does not make sense. That would be close to $400 just for the clutch kit + install costs.

sounds reasonable for a OE replacement kit.

Exedy OEM Replacement Clutch Kit :: OE Clutches :: Clutch/Transmission :: Import Replacement Parts

EXEDY Globalparts Corporation

Exedy only makes a OE replacement V6 2.5L clutch kit. Not even stage 1 or higher. So my money is on ACT, Clutch masters for higher load holding clutches which can be bought for usually under $400.
when i swapped KLZE and replaced clutch flywheel and all the goodies my clutch grabbed right off the floor too. Jason bled the clutch for me some more and it was back to mid point. so if your's is grabbing off the floor it might not be bled properly.

This leaves huge room to miss a shift because the tranny wanst fully disengaged if your foot is not planted to the carpet. The lip of your shoe might catch on the suicide pedal and not fully disengage. And lastly it sucks for race quick shifting because you actually gotta plant the pedal down fully. If you have a Mid-top grab you can get away with only partially depressing the clutch.

The only reason you probably prefer it is because you have only ever known your car that way and it is hard to re adjust driving habits. I just like feeling the spring back of the Mid-top engage. It all comes down to how your car is set up usually is how you end up preferring it.
im getting my clutch replaced on monday....im excited........ :>

ill let u guys kno how she drives later.
btw.......whose all down for a meet in november @ ikea underground...let me kno ur schedules....i was thinkin mid november
so i got my clutch/flywheel job done 2day........she runs great.....quick take off i mean if u let the clutch go too much u will stall.....i stalled twice getting out of the mechanic's shop haha

There was a problem with my tranny.......the insides like the gears were grinded up.....i got a used 96 probe 50 000K tranny installed......cause my old one was in real bad shape.

I gota stop spending sooo much on this car lol

oh yea the engine RR inserts....the rear ones didnt fit
do u guys have the same prob???
like i said there are 2 different kinds of mounts. What mount do u have and what insert. The 93 style looks like an Omega symbol. the 94 has an upper slot and a lower slot. Lordco sells the 94 style mount.. if you want the part # just ask.
