well, thanks to a new exhaust manifold gasket that i picked up for free from xskape (thanks a ****load brad), i had enough motivation to get up off my ass and take off my exhaust manifold+turbo+dump pipe all in one big package. took about an hour all up, and it wasnt hard at all. i must say, my turbo is in sweet condition (touch wood) and has about 1/4mm play in it. had a look at my exhaust valves and they were a nice dark brown colour (she runs a bit rich). i get the bolt tap today which im gonna get matched to the studs i picked up. it should be back on the road either tonight or tomorrow...... I CANT WAIT! fingers crossed that there no hiccups!

as for the gasket - dont worry about it mate, its cool. you just owe me a ride in your car when its going 100% haha, i would have told ya to take me for a spin that night, but had the woman in my car.

that girl in my car heard your exhaust manifold leak nick, and goes to me "haha, his car sounds like yours used to brad".. it made me laugh, because i had the 'clack clack clack' for about three months! it got so loud after a while.

i tightend the remaining bolts on the dump to turbo yesterday, and i was hitting boost cut again last nite (even though its leaking bad and there is a bolt missing). i think i actually heard my gate scream for the first time too. (not sure if it was me tightening the remaining bolts, or the frosty air).

i really need to do the CAI RAM mod, but im scared to take off my bumpers and all that. (front bar is in bad condition, barely hanging off the car)

yeh for sure ill take u for a spin! u gotta take me for a spin in urs aswell, i wanna feel the t28 difference. yeh the leak was pretty bad, everyone thinks its my tappets going nuts.....but soon to be fixed.

oh yeh, what type of boost guage do u have? it looked pretty cool in that blue/aqua colour!

as for ur cold air intake, ill show u the setup ive got happening. and ill show u where my last cai setup was. the new setup i have lets it breathe much easier, and the flutter is nice n fat (on 10psi its really high pitched when u play with the throttle, like a high pitched sooooo hoooo chooo cho cho cho)

you got my address/number buddy, so just drop over sometime. t28 difference? HAHA, u mean u wanna feel the lag!?

my boost gauge is a ricey one from cyber century in footscray, it was 70 bucks. i dont think its very accurate, i have a feeling that it displays the wrong boost (2 psi less than it should be).

it actually changes between 7 different colours, i just leave it on aqua cause its the same as my dash - which has a broken light and is all blotchy and ugly at the moment (which annoys me to death).

as for the flutter, i think i know what you mean. you gotta sorta play with the throttle a bit to make it louder (because of the afm flap i presume?)

the flutter i get (without the damn exhaust leak) is an odd one. the first 'flutter' is long, and then it dies off really quickly. and it defently isnt high pitched, its quite deep and throaty.

as for the CAI, id love to have my pod close as possible to the turbo (i.e almost coming right off it), and then have a pipe bringing the air to it... instead of bringing the afm + pod to the air!.. it makes much more sence to me. i guess the air coming from the intake would also cool the turbo? hence louder flutter.

woohoo! its finished! but man did i embarrass myself. i pulled up along side david's white mx6 (from vms) he got the early jump on me but we were even by the end of first gear. i changed into 2nd gear and pop! intercooler hose came off! dammit! but other then that its allllllll sweet!

ooh, good stuff nick.

... david got beaten by an NA civic at the runs, and he never came back (for obvious reasons).

his car owned mine though (when i was running 3psi)
