I own a 96 mx6 with the 2.5 and I just purchased a ractive strut tower bar. I go to put it on and find out it hits the throttle body. Whats the deal with that?. Can anybody tell me what kind I need for this car that fits?

Its common for the strut brace to catch either the engine or the hood most of us just either bend it out of the way or use a few washers to lift it slightly.

A word of note. We are trying to limit the length of peoples sigs to 5 Lines only.

How effective can a strut tower brace be if you can bend it to clear engine components? I thought the point was for the bar to be rigid enough that it wouldn't bend! Just curious.

We are talking mm of bend not enough to weaken the brace I havent had to do either mine had enough adjusment to just miss the engine. I have read on here that some people have bent the brace but I cant imagine that 2-3 mm of Vertical bend will affect the horizontal strength of the brace.

Maybe the wrong terminology but think it says what I mean.

My point is that I wouldn't think you should be able to bend the bar in the first place. I know what you mean though.

I have that bar on my ride. i didnto have any problem, you have to go under some wires on the dirver side to get it to set right on the top. just get the bar straight on there and mess around with the nut that adj. its. you should not have to bend the bar. Unless you have spacers.
