Anyone tried take the ABS ring off the CV axle.

My car has ABS already and the axle is clicking. I want to get a non-ABS axle from a junk yard, take the ring off my bad axle and put it on the junk yard axle and install the axle onto my car.

Is this possible?

Actually, I'm showing that the axles DO crossreference between the v6 and I4 models. As for the ABS ring, that's part of the whole cv joint, it doesnt come off by itself. So you probably could take that whole cv joint (with the abs ring) and hook it up to a different axle (non abs) - but that would be pointless because the axle isn't what's bad - it's the cv joint that's bad. I'd just shell out the $45-50 for a new one.

Here's a website that shows they have the same part #'s http://www.mazreplacementparts.com/

The ring is on the axle not the hub. The rear ring is on the hub.

I went to a junk yard today and checked the ring can be tapped out it is not too hard. Thanks for all the responses.
