may sound dumb - and I would think that lots of you have done this already - I took out my spare and jack. The car feels so much lighter and quick to respond - and it's better on gas too. I figured that if I ever get a flat I'll just take the bus or cab or friend and get the spare and put it on, or just get towed - it's totally worth the risk.

Just thought I'd mention it.

I just stopped eating burger king for a couple of months. That more then made up for keeping the jack and spare.

I never really thought about the stuff I keep in my trunk. In addition to my spare and jack and stuff, I've got probably about 150 lbs. I'm a musician and a student, and it's not uncommon for me to have my soprano, alto, and tenor saxes, my flute, my clarinet, a whole sh!t-load of lesson books, school books, and my backpack in my trunk. I'm about to go out. I'll take all that stuff out and see how big of a difference it makes.
