I was checking all of my fluids and just doing hose checks for maintanence purposes and I noticed that my throttle body boot was cracked around the throttle body to a little bit past the hose clamp. Will this do any harm to my engine? And also what are some of the possibilities on why the throttle body cracked? I noticed that the hose clamp was loose so I retightened it.

Same thing happened to me a while ago, and it caused the car to idle very rough, sometimes even dying on me at a red light. The crack was really big though, so I guess it will only start to affect the airflow sensor when the crack grows large enough in your case... or have you noticed this symptom yet?

Anyhow, I solved it temporarily with some high temp silicone sealant while I waited for a $20 replacement sent to me by a person parting out a mx6. If you get a used one try to get one of a recent year model, the older ones tend to be brittle and give the same problem.

mine cracked basically half of the bottom where the lip meets the TB...i superglued it and then wrapped it with Electrical Tape...but it came loose again...and i notice my car will get stuck at about 2000 RPMS when i let off the gas...then i hit it and let go and the RPMs drop back to normal...it makes a difference

Yeah, Duct tape is a good quick fix for it. Try to contact Hughes46 , as he is always parting out some 6's and has good ones ready to ship and he won't burn you for your money. The tape will hold until you get a new one though.

that intake elbow must be repaired or replaced asap. if u guys do not fix it, your car will have an air leak. since the car will not get the right mixture of air to fuel it will hinder performance or will cause many problems.
when mine cracked, my car chokes and was undriveable. so i replaced it w/ the modified intake from the 97 and up prelude. at least now i know there's now way in hell that aluminum tube/intake elbow will ever crack.
