drill more holes in it for weight reduction!

By the way, what exactly do you do to "fill it"?

Well that all depends.

You could have a muffler shop weld the holes and then use a light weight filler.

If the holes arent where the supports are you could, if dont right, put some fiber glass as backing and then fill the holes.

If the holes are over the the supports then you could fill it with good stuff and then use some duraglass and then some filler.
