when I put the car in drive it kills engine,I can put it in reverse and it does fine It is a 88 mx6 auto,4cyl. can jackup front end and get tires off the ground then put it in drive without the brake on and it does fine shifts good and all but apply the brake and kills the engine.HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

bad torque converter possibly? I"m not sure... but that would be my guess...

I've got two lighthearted jokes on this one.

I don't now much about auto axles but my frist guess would also be the TC, (mainly because thats the only part I know about in a AT lol)

You're gonna have problems getting help with this, as not many of us have ATX's. Look for the guys that did the ATX/MTX swap.

this reply is for jking. i had the same thing happen to me ... you need to check the air tube from your masairmeter, it has a crack in it when you put it in drive the motor tilts back and the hole opens up. and gives the engin a false reading on airflow and when you go into reverse it closes it.. betcha thats what is man...

yep, that needed replacing on mine also, at least that's what the mechanic told me...runs fine now...
