Just to be safe, when I bolt my new turbo on my 2.2l, the oil drain hole that is in the block, what's behind the fitting? Does it ever get clogged? Never seen the inside of the block near this area, but I imagine it's open into the oil pan?
There's a picture that compnut took a while back to show...basically it just opens up to the block and drains down. It's a good 6-8" above the water line. I'll see if I can dig up the pic. But the real think you need to worry about is having the oil feed line clogging up with coke. I had that happen to me and was the demise of my tbird turbo.
Nice pic!! Thanks, Compnut!! I don't think my feed line is clogged, by the way my turbo is externally oiling my engine!!!!! I just wanted to make sure there's no way for blockage past the turbo, that would make my oil come out the center housing. Oh, and just a tip, don't EVER leave the oil feed line disconnected-when you start the motor!!!! It makes a mess in about 2.5 seconds!!!
