ok so here it is... ive heard of people opening the screw on the back of the wastegate solenoid to raise boost... now is it just me or is this screw just about impossible to get to without removing alot of stuff? now that was plan B.

Plan A is in effect right now... this plan entailes releasing pressure on the line that runs to the wastegate.. now by releasing pressure am i just doing the job for the wastegate or am i really lieing to it and raising the boost? or do i need to restrict pressure to the wastegate? and if yes, should I use like a spray gun "diaphram" regulator, or just use something similar to a ball valve?

And last but not least... Im really not sure that I am doing all of this to the right line. the line that i am using comes out just after the turbo and goes to the (or what I believe is the solenoid) wastegate.. Its about a 1/4" line... so if someone has pics of their ghetto turbo controller or just can take a pic and point to the right line..

Thanks a bunch...

yes i did search and no i don't have a manual and yes i really am just that ghetto and cheap :)

Ghetto Boost controller pic:

Its a ball valve, you can adjust the spring tension with the allen screw, and then lock it to a set boost level with the lock nut.

The only thing to note is that you need to drill a small hole in the top center of it for venting purposes.

You place this in your wastegate line, and it keeps the wastegate from seeing any boost pressure until the ball valve gets opened, allowing you to run a higher boost.

Use as short as possible vaccume lines to connect it if you want to keep boost spike to a minimum.

If you don't want to build this, you can buy them off e-bay for $10.

or if you want to go EVEN CHEAPER, you can get a plain old bleeder type valve from home depot, just a brass coupling with a set screw twist type of thing, I'm using one and have been for awhile now, but I'm going to go with a ballbearing type like flyswat mentioned, or if you feel like making one to sell me? (flyswat). I don't need the expensive solenoid one that you are working on, just a plain ball bearing type. I'd do it myself, but I only have free time on the weekends due to school and work, and the last thing I feel like doing on the weekends is using my brain MORE

this supposadly is a diagram of a sencond gen turbo... now all i did is cut line #1 and put a valve in the middle of it, is this correct? or do i need to put a valve inbetween #1 and #2?

Argghhhh!!! im goint to go out to my car now a look around. idonlt car if it is raining and dark. i must know;...

First off, thats a diagram of the 1st gen Mx-6/probe (Same car, same everything). The second gen never had a turbo.

What you need is place a valve in Line #2 ONLY, and then unplug the boost control solinoid that all three lines run into.

OR, Completely remove the boost control solinoid, and run a vaccume line from where Line #1 starts, to the waste gate, and get rid of Line #1, and plug line #3 with a screw or something.

mabey i read wrong i thought this was for 2nd gen.. ohh well.. so to sum it up disconnect #1 and #2 from solinoid and put a "pressure releif valve" (open ended valve), or like the pic above a "restrictive Valve" sorry for the lak of understading, ive just heard a million different things from many people. so i just want to clearify...

Btw.. all i have right now is a valve in the middle of line #1, it seems to do alot of good. but what you guys are saying is that its just part of my imagination :) also when you hook up your boost gauge, you do this on line #1 or now "line #1-2. and do you put the T before the valve or after. (intake side being before)

Thanks again for all the help!!!

Hook up your boost gauge off the green dashed line behind your intake manifold.

Putting a MBC in line #1 will work, but you will need to unplug the boost control solinoid, and plug line #3, otherwise you'll have boost spiking problems.

I really reccomend getting rid of it all, and just running a direct line from Line #1's nipple to the wastegate, with the MBC in the middle of course :)

Yes!!!

That helps so much,, sorry buy i paint cars for a living, so, well you can only imagine.... hehe i get paid to get high!

last stupid question and im gonna go fix this problem.... by MBC do your me Relife valve?, or Restrictive. or basically what i have right now is a valve that will open a hole in the line releasing pressure... is that what i want?

Thanks again.. im no mechanic, but hey, if you need help paintin your car, lemme know!!! :)

Seeing as you only live 2 hours from me, I might take you up on that painting offer someday.

I'd really reccomend using a Ball and Spring style controller (Restrictive as you would call it), your risking a bad boost spike with a bleeder set up (Relief as you call it), and its harder to keep it at a set boost.

Just buy one off e-bay.

HAH thats awesome, you live in seqium... thats south right? yea no prob im always willing to help out.. it always helps to have someone to talk to just so you dont waste all your money on supplys and just have the paint fail a month later (seen it happen before ) just email me

[email protected]

p.s.

if you wanna come watch, im goin to the track this sunday, im gonna whoop this guy i work with's honda... hes spend l ike 13 grand into the engine but put a turbo that is just way to big for his car so it doens't even spool till about 7000rpm. so all that leaves him is a stock Vtech engine.. itll be pretty funny... I hope. that and i just want to see my 1/4 mile times... email me if you wanna come, itll be at SIR.

Take it easy, and thanks again Flyswat.

heres some info you probably don't know, inside of the rubber hoses is a small valve that helps control boost, it is a small brass object about the size of a pencil eraser, it has a small pinhole inside of it, this valve needs to come out and then get stuffed into the new hose that you'll use with your boost controller, the easiest method is to use a hose from #1 to the wastegate actuator with the brass object inside the hose somewhere, (doesnt matter, as long as it's in there) and put your solenoid somewhere safe, don't disconnect the solenoid from the electrical or you will throw codes......

Flyswat, can you give me a list of parts that I need from Home Depot?....people have given different info on spring rates, and I'm not sure which one is the correct spring rate to use?...I can't use EBay or Paypal because of a bank error, so at the moment I don't have an account untill it's settled...(robbed at gunpoint in Vegas...and bank account was overdrafted)...I know how it must sound...and they must hear it EVERYDAY (the cops)...but it's true...and it sucked....and I almost died ....

NateDawg: I actually moved to Port Angeles, which is a grand whopping 15 miles west of Sequim :p.

If you get on 101 and head west you'll go right throw P.A. I live literally on the bluff's of the straights, I can see Canada on a clear day.

Yeah Canadains are trying to be like Americans  Thats why we always try to be better than americans, and can't stand to lose a hockey/basball game to Americans...and if we do we will say that they cheated or somthing happened to one of their players..otherwise we would of won.
Yeah I don't think so, its actually the other way around...

Americans are always trying to be better than us...(yet many of them know nothing about us)...yeah thats right we live in iglous and its always snowing, and our summers reach a nice warm -30 degrees. So yeah they try to be better than people they know nothing about.
Then if they lose a Hockey game to us they whine and cry about it and make up reasons as to why they lost and if so...and...so (someone on the candian team) didn't do such...and...such they would of won.
Or better yet were to blame for the 911 attacks because we habour terrioest, Americans eventually came off their high horse on that one, but right after the attacks the blame was pointed to the terriots first of course, but then part of the blame was pointed to us Canadians because we let them into our country to live for the year and train before they did their attacks. So where to blame. When the truth of the matter is they trained in the USA, and only one of the members immagrated to Canada before the attacks, I think. Basicaly they were complaining that our boarder security wasn't good enough and we were a danger to the USA unless we steped up our boarders...when the truth of the matter is our boarders followed the same procedures as the USA boarders before the attacks, and now after the attacks we have also steped up our secirty in air ports and at the boarders, but no where to blame because were not a safe enough country...Im so sick of Hearing the Americans cry about how we are to blame for most of the stuff that happens to them.

Ok so mabey this is excragted a little...but its still the truth. I have nothing against americans, I think Americans are great people...they just have alot to learn when it comes to resepct for other countries...I mean we respect the Americans...why can't they do the same...Oh I know why because we didn't join into bushe's pointless War.

Methman

PS: When I say "pointless war" I realy hate to say it...but IMHO Bush really needs to step up to the plate with somthing to prove to the troops, that the war they're fighting is for a reason, I mean so far apx. 360 american troops have died...And for what. Because they wanted to take someone out of power because he was producing somthing that the Americans couldn't prove. I mean there is really no wepons of mass destriction being made there...bush just started that so he could get other countries to agree with him.
And now that he has started the war he can't even produce a tiny bit of evidence that Sadam was really producing wepons of mass destriction. he raged war in another country because of the OIL he wants to take control of the oil plants there, sure he keep irquies working at the plants but most of the profits will go to his countrie. He wants to provide Americans with cheeper gas, and at the same time he can get back at the terriosts (at the death of many incoent people).
