i havent had this much fun in ages so thot id share, soz if its a bit of a long read.
on friday night i found myself driving to fountain gate krispy kremes (as racka and a mate of mine both had suggested lately) and my friend and i (he has an '03 audi A4 stock) found a good 70 cars or so in the KK parking lot, mostly fords/holdens but a few rotaries (rx3s, rx7s) and other jap cars too (skylines, supras, 180sx, etc). was fun to watch them rip it up and hoon around a bit and the security guy was pretty chilled and didnt seem to care, i guess nothing was being damaged and its far from the road and any residential areas so we weren't really bothering anyone. anywho after 30 min we set off and drove down princess hwy, a few of the drivers were goin pretty nuts, weaving thru the massive group and nailing it every chance they got, so i kept my distance lol. we got to shell on warrigal rd/princess hwy (after seeing sum decent off-the-lights action haha) and then cops rocked up and basically told us to fuck off. we lost half the group and headed back to noble maccas to grab a bite where we found mostly a bunch of nissans and toyotas and holdens.. by now it was approx 12 at nite n after we grabbed a bite we met up with another mate who owns an MY00 imported STI which is pretty fast.. n then another guy with an R34 gt-t met us on princess hwy a lil later on too.
so anyway heres the awesome part.. we joined a big group of cars, approx 25 and started racing each other, these were mixed evenly imports/domestics, there were two dc2 type r's, i raced one at the same time as a r33 gtst and the two were neck in neck and i was struggling, that type r sounded off its tits i gotta say n i was very surprised to c it keep up with the nissan. so yeh there were a few xr6 turbs, xr8s, FPV GT-Ps (apparantly one had 410kw atw, one had 370kw and another 310kw my mate with the sti said, he met them on another cruise previously) and god did they sound mental! few holden v8s too, a supra, a lot of S13s, two S14s, and two S15s, skylines, 3 evos (VII i think) a crazy sounding turbo soarer among a bunch of other cars that i prob forgot. by now it was 12.30 or so, and my mate n i (had one im my car the whole time - not the audi guy, another mate with a VS clubby who had recently lost his licence) realised that we saw NO cops.. at all.. for the past half hour, and we drove from noble park to caulfied (all along prinny) where on a friday ud usually c about 8 cop cars on such a trip. so everyone turned around and went back, and kept racing, i think other ppl were realising it too, i think it was bcoz of the grand final the next day and all the cops knocked off early to get some rest or something because it was very very strange to not c one cop car. by 1am everyone was driving like nutcases, i was taking it sort of easy cos i wasn't alone in the car and i didnt want to push my 15yr old engine for a full hour (was plagued by memories of turks engine problems lol so was cautious), so we did laps of princess hwy seriously about i dno, 8 times! that night i clocked 200km! people were going crazy, off from the lights to 180km.h, whooshing up from behind and weaving in and out of each other, unless of course there were any 'normal' people on the road with us (very very few actually), then theyd take it real easy which i was glad about (i didnt speed practically all night, apart from a couple times to 130-140). we did this til about 3am! id never seen anything like it in all of the times id been out driving with other people.
so yeh at 3am i gave up and went to noble maccas again (sigh, very sad i know lol), and met up with a mate of mine who has a 270kw atw 180sx (thats with a dodgy fuel pump and fpr, hopefully 300-310kw when fixed) and he took me for a spin in it for the first time since he finished building it (took 8months) and omg it felt like he went from 0-180km.h in something like 10 secs, i cudve sworn my face was peeling off everytime he hit full boost lol. hes going to be in autosalon next w.e if any of u guys are going, thats if he gets his fuel issues fixed.
im a bit tipsy still atm lol so hope i didnt ramble too much
, it just felt very surreal at the time and i still cant believe it.
