ok.. not really my strong point.. so anyone out there who can help?

I've got a tunnel up and running but can only see the remote
router on its private IP, I can't see the rest of the remote network.

Do I need to add something to the routing table?

A google hasn't found much and the book is 'in the post'

Have you set the permissions correctly on the router so that the outside user has access to inside?

Try entering the IP address of the share you're trying to access instead
eg,
"Run": \\192.168.0.1\sharename

You also may need to add a persistent route to the server you're trying to access so that it knows how to get back to the VPN client PC.

Cheers,
Ken

Hey Ken,

Its router - router VPN (IKE-IPSEC) so the tunnel is 'up'

The router on the far end has its firewall 'off' at the moment

And the router 'this' end has the correct ports open....

and I can see the remote router on 192.168.254.254

But not the remote server on 253

DAMN!

:damnmad:

(the server is AFP, rather than SMB of CIFS of what-ever MS use these days!)

:D

thanks.

If you can see the router at the other end then I would suspect a routing issue on the server. try a trace route to the server and see how far that gets.
Probably just to the router on the remote end.
check the servers routing table back to your remote LAN

if my server was 192.168.0.1, VPN router (server end) 192.168.0.2 remote LAN 192.168.2.0 then you would ned a route on the server pointing the route to the VPN router.

eg 192.168.2.0 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.2

Hey Russ.. yea.. kinda thought that was the issue... doh!

just found out though that 'bonjour' is a multicast and thus doens't get routed over VPN.. so I'm back to square one..

still I'll see if I can at least get to the server once I've go a route in there...

thanks for the help.

:D

Home time now anyway! phew!
