I know that this is a kind of paint defect, but I don't know what it looks like. I'm getting in on that paint defect petition that's goin on over on probetalk because my paint is really oxidized and looks shitty. If any of you guys have the same problem, go over to the appearence section of probetalk.com and look for the thread called "ford just repainted my car". It's a big deal, they've organized a big petition of at least 150 people to get there cars repainted by the dealerships free because the factory paint is defective. Hell I'm doin it!

already done

I've already been over there and put my name on the list. I am a little skeptical as to whether anything will come of it, but it definitely can't hurt...

Get over there and let them know their paint sucks!!!

Hi,
I'm the guy that's started the Paint Defect List over on Probetalk. Here's some info that might be of interest to you guys:

1. I've had my car painted by Ford Australia under factory warranty.

2. The factory warranty is a five year corrosion warranty.

3. Ford Australia has repainted several Probes under this warranty.

4. So far, I'm only aware of one Probe outside of Australia that's been repainted and this was in Hawai (Ford USA I presume).

5. The correct process is to approach your local Ford/Mazda dealer and have them look at the car and they will asess whether the car should be resprayed. It's a good idea to ask for a Mazda paint specialist (from head office) to present when your car is being inspected. If they agree, then everything is OK. If they don't, then call Mazda(or Ford I suppose) and firmly but politely ask for a representative to examine your car.

6. I've been told by the Australian (Ford) guys that it'd be pretty hard to get a respray out of Ford USA so I assume that the same would go for Mazda USA.

7. If all else fails, the a joint law suit should be organised. I'm putting everyones details on the defect list but it's up to you guys to actually get organised and do something. So far there's been a lot of talk but no action.

Anyhow, go to the page by clicking HERE. If you have any questions feel free to email me at [email protected].
Cheers all.

Thanks go to "the_xerox" for inviting me to your wonderfull board and the next Sydney Australia meet. Someone should make this guy a moderator. :)

Someone I know (Greg Grant) down here in southFL got his painted. They said no at the dealership so he wont the corporate office a letter and bam, they did it. I believe they just did a resurfacing though, not a full paint job. Still better than nothing

joint lawsuit!

I like this joint lawsuit idea. Actually I think the correct term is "Class Action Lawsuit." Even if it only meant getting a settlement of some type, you know, some kind of compensation. I would definately like that. I think if we got enough names, we could get something. Remingtion(firearms) had something like this back in the day. Something to do with a barrel on a shotgun they had being defective, and over a million people got compensated for it. I know this cause my dad got in on it and got like $200 because of it.

My paint sucks. I got crows feet in places, and when I went to get it buffed out to get the major oxidation off, I was taking the decals off to be replaced and when I picked at the edge of the GT decal on the rear bumper, my fingernail actually took paint off clear down to plastic on the bumper. This is bullshit with the paint. Sure it looked ok after I got it buffed, but that was about 4 months ago, and all the oxidation is coming back.
