what is this?????????????????

If your on the passenger side of the car and your facing the cam gears or timing covers (2.5V6) and look to the left of the cam gear closest to the firewall there is a sensor that goes into the motor there that also has a electrical plug. Is this the camshaft position sensor? If not, what is it. thanks for any help.
