yea ive just been driving around in my 2g after a few months of it sitting in my garage and i have noticed some noises coming from the front wheels

it particulaly does ti when i put the brake on but it does it other times too eg when the car is slowing without brakes or driving at a sub 50 k speed~
when i put my head out and listen to it more clearly it sounds like its coming from the front wheels

i am thinking i need some new brake pads and probably a service checkup to be safe

just some questions as i havent personaly done any of these b4

if it is brake pads: how much to buy them and get someone to install roughly, or is it easy to do/

if it isnt brake pads: what might it be

how much would a service be generally, ball park figure :p

what is another good thing to upgrade while im at it

car is at 210k's

thanks

whats the noise like ?

could be glazed pads/rotors.

rotors will need a skim if within specification. which is around $40 a side.

pads just clean them up with some sand paper if still have meat on them.

yeah the pads could be worn it could just be the wear indicators scraping so you know to replace..

Probably the brake pads dragging on the discs? My Cressida is doing it too, and the MX6 did it before I took it to a brake specialist.

If the belt is broken you would have noticed it. Either the AC & Power steering would not work (you would notice) or the waterpump or alternator would not work (you wouldn't be going far). I suspect worn/cracking rather than broken. I think the belts were about $30 simmilar for parts. They are easy to do yourself.

Pads can vary in price but generally $100-150 fitted if I remember correctly & about $70 for disc machining - which is probably where the real noise is coming from as everyone suggested.
