Is the stock offset the same for the 4 cyl? Also, if I put on a smaller offset - does that mean I can fit wider rims?

A smaller offset will let you fit a wider rim. Remember that if you go to far you start to affect the car's hamdling characteristics though. not to mention that you can start to look ike a low rider.:) Other things to consider is that with a wider tire you will have more tendancy to aqua plan in the rain and you are putting more drag resistance between the tire and the road. I normally wouldn't recommend more than a 215 width tire for our cars unless you really want a lot of lateral grip for auto-x. Beyond that you start to actually lose power from the extra drag and you get more wandering with the lines in the road.

What width of rim and what offset would you recommend for a 17 in. rim on a 4 cyl?
Thanks for all the help.
