i have a 1990 first gen and when the car has sat for 5 mins off, when i take off and put my foot down its makes a really loud virbrating whistle sound. (like teh sound a whistle makes when its wet...or when you vibrate your tongue). The sound is only when you are actually moving...i can rev it to redline and it wont make the sound (sounds like it is related to boost)

when teh car is cold it is worse but still happens when teh car is warm and ive just turned it off for a few mins.

i have no idea whats happening with it....hasnt done it from day one..started about 5 months ago.

Does the car run badly when hitting boost? Does it stutter or cough or anything?

It maybe a leak somewhere in your intake pipes... a little one the is making a whistle sound.

Or is good be that your turbo is about to **** itself... I've never heard it, but apparently sounds like a train.

nah car runs fine...no missing, sluttering or jerking when it makes teh noise or when it doesnt.

only happens when car has been sitting off for a little peroid of time...goes away and doesnt come back untill the car is off and resting for 10 or so mins

i was thinking that the oil in the turbo was going to teh bottom and not getting everywhere for a little while.

it seemed to happen after i changed teh oil....im using castrol GTX3 or what ever it says to use in the castrol book at the supercheap

i have a similar noise , and i was told it was probably the belts slipping . I only get the noise when its cold ,i basically just cant thrash the car for the first 3 mins or so and then after that its warm enough and doesnt make that noise anymore. I was guessing belts make sense because when they get warm they expand thus making them tight again , but i dunno...
