A Honda Civic HB weighs only 2200 - 2400 with a GSR motor. It runs low 14's and high 13's stock. We know the GSR motor has 170 hp and 128 or 129 lbs of torque. (Not really the case.) Now a 4 banger mx6 weighs 2310 according to 626butnotforlong website. The FS-ZE is capable of 170hp with 131 lbs of torque. Now, if we successfully did the swap, the 4 banger should be running those same times right? Cuz I've been just thinking. A successful FS-ZE should run those times, so with normal bolt-ons, a racing clutch and lightened flywheel should break it to the mid or high 13's. Plus a 50 shot of nitrous would help it boost to the low 13's or mid 13's. Please give me some feedback on what you think.
Okay, from reading the posts that parsifal created about modding the I4, I remember that NO ONE has successfully made the transplant. Why? Because the ecu and the wiring harness isn't available, plus it's kinda hard to control the VICS because the 4 banger US doesn't have a VICS or VRIS, however the FS-ZE does. The FS-ZE also is a direct bolt-in place, no motor mount is needed. (Not too sure if I remember reading that or not, correct me if I'm wrong again.) But like I said, the problem is the ecu and the wiring harness.
Why can't we rip it off of a j-spec 4 banger? And why would Mazda make a more powerful engine for the 4 banger 6 if they wouldn't give us a wiring harness and ecu for it. I thought it was intentionally for the mx6, but then Protege also uses the FS-ZE. Someone said that we could use the Protege's ECU? I don't remember reading that or not
I really dunno what I'm writing right now, please just enlighten me. I guess my questions were:
"Would an FS-ZE in a 4 banger 6 run the same time or even better like a HB with a GSR?"
"And is the only thing we needed for the FS-ZE is just the wiring harness and the ECU?"
